Do I need a visa to travel?
YES YOU MUST HAVE AN ESTA (VISA) to get into the US. You can apply any time and they last for 2 years.

I was merrily going about my day thinking "I don't need to take any of my own clothes and equipment to America, so I should have plenty of space to take everyone else's clothes for them. I'll just turn my pants and socks inside out every fucking day to save space in my bag for everyone else's shit".
